Olympic Educational Service District 114

Serving the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas

The Olympic Educational Service District, Student Services and Support Center received funding from Department of Health (DOH) to serve as the Lead Organization for the Olympic Health Region to implement the Youth Marijuana Prevention and Education Program (YMPEP). This region includes Jefferson, Clallam, and Kitsap Counties.

The purpose of this program is to develop, coordinate and implement a regional marijuana prevention and education program that focuses on preventing initiation and reduce marijuana use in youth, ages 12-20, and among populations most adversely affected by marijuana throughout Washington State. The overall goal of YMPEP is to foster healthier communities and improve youth health outcomes.

Olympic Region YMPEP Grant Objectives:
  • Reduce favorable attitudes towards youth marijuana use.
  • Increase community awareness around the laws in Washington State and health impact of marijuana use.
  • Increase the number of venues, stores, and parks that implement policies and procedures that restrict use and availability of marijuana, e-cigarette, and vaping devices.
